We laid in the grass together
you and I,
High,
In the Cherry Esplanade.
We heard children laughing
Birds singing
And then nothing.
We lost time.
We were gone
Safe in slumber
That came with no warning.
The earth accepting our breath
The weight of our perceptions
Dissolving into space,
Our still bodies mere symbols.
The eyes I use to judge myself
were never used that day.
I only saw beauty,
Felt goodness
Knew truth,
And lived happily ever after
Together with you.
